Judith Allmond Jones Moore, born March 12, 1941, in Wilmington, Delaware, died September 19, 2026, at the age of 85, in San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, U.S. Army Col. (Ret) David W. Jones, MSC and Marjorie Allmond Jones; her brother-in-law, Alvy L. (Mickey) King, Ph.D., of Austin, TX; Aunt Carolyn Allmond Gorry of Virginia Beach, VA; and Cousin Stewart Allmond Gorry of Wilmington, DE. She is survived by her son, James Bradley Moore of Richardson, TX; his father, James Cushnie Moore, Jaffrey, NH; his aunt, Anne Moore Griffin, Jaffrey, NH; Judy’s sister Nancy Baker Jones, Ph.D., of Austin, TX; cousins James A. Gorry III (Anne) of Norfolk, VA; and Nancy Hunter Gorry (Richard Jeffers) of Virginia Beach, VA, as well as many cherished friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
Judy graduated from George Washington High School, San Francisco, CA and earned the Bachelor of Science from Texas Woman’s University College of Nursing Class of 1963 as a member of the Army Student Nurse Program. She served as an Operating Room nurse in the Army Nurse Corps at Ft. Hood, TX; the 93rd Evacuation Hospital, Long Binh, Vietnam (1965-1966); and at the Surgical Research Unit (Burns) at Ft. Sam Houston, TX. Following a separation from service she returned to active-duty staff and management positions in the operating room at Brooke Army Medical Center, Ft. Sam Houston, TX and at Ft. Knox, KY (1977-1980).
Judy served as Director of Surgical Services, Lutheran General Hospital, San Antonio, TX (1983-1992); at Santa Rosa Medical Center Northwest (1993-1996); and as a member of the Quality Management Department at South Texas Veterans Health Care System from which she retired in 2012. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, American Mensa, the Army Nurse Corps Association, and served as President of the Board of Directors of the Williamsburg Square Homeowners Association (2015-2026).
