Juan De Dios Lopez of San Antonio, Texas passed away March 9th, 2023 at the age of 61 years after a 7-year battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Juan De Dios Lopez was born in El Paso, Texas on April 15th, 1962.
He graduated Bowie High School with the class of 1980. He graduated from Central Texas College in 1996, and Kansas State University in 2002 with a Bachelors of Science in Food Science and Industry.
He served as an enlisted soldier in the United States Army from 1982 to 1993, when he was selected to serve as a Warrant Officer until his retirement in 2012. He was honorably discharged as a Chief Warrant Officer CW4. During his duration, he received numerous awards, including the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, among many others.
Shortly after, he was hired by the FDA, and rose to the position of Supervisory Consumer Safety Officer with the Office of Regulatory Affairs, where he served until his final days.
He is survived by his Veteran Wife Donna Lopez, whom he met during active duty in San Diego, CA in 1987 and married in 1993.
He is survived by his children Teresa Rodriguez, Beatrice Bailey, Michael Pennington, and Christopher Lopez and Christopher Lopez and his wife Arianna,Grandchildren; Jazmin Rodriguez, Jeremiah Rodriguez, Audie Bailey and John Bailey, Great grandchildren; Maximus Aguirre-Rodriguez.
He was preceded in death by his father Raul Lopez Sr. and mother Bibiana Gamillo.
He is survived by his brother Raul Lopez Jr. and his wife Leah, along with his sister Laura Lopez and her husband Victor.
He is remembered by his siblings Isabel Rodriguez, Alejandrina Rodriguez, Procoro Rodriguez, Margarita Rodriguez, Rosa Rodriguez, Socorro Rodriguez, Santa Rodriguez, Maria Rodriguez, Saturnino Rodriguez and their families.
