He is preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Love; father, Bob Love; sister, Suzanne Love, and brother, Rene Lievana.
He leaves behind his beautiful wife, Brenda Smithson Love, and daughter Amy Love Bushong (Steve Bushong). He also leaves sisters, Sharon Love Kronberg (Greg Krongberg); Rosalind Love Murray (Greg Murray); brother, Robert Love (Kim Love); as well as numerous other relatives in the United States, South America, and Spain.
Joe attended Torrejon and Zaragoza High Schools in Spain. He graduated in 1962 from Albany High School in Albany, Georgia, where he also attended college. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served until 1966 in France and Germany, and remained on active reserve until 1968.
Joe had a long career in tele-communications, and was an expert on the installation of large
Commercial phone systems. He retired from Avaya Telecommunications in 2007.
Joe was dearly loved by his family and friends. Some of his favorite experiences were vacationing on South Padre Island, Texas, where he and Brenda spent many happy days. He also attended many reunions with his High School friends from his years in Spain, with who he remained in contact throughout the years. He was a sports enthusiast whose favorite teams were the Detroit Lions, and the San Antonio Spurs. Joe spent his final years selflessly caring for his wife who has Alzheimer’s.
The family will have a private memorial service at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in his name to the Veterans association of your choosing or The American Cancer Society.
