John Robert Rodriguez

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved John R. Rodriguez who entered eternal rest on February 11, 2026 at the age of 68. Born on June 28, 1957 in San Antonio, TX he lived a life filled with music, laughter, love and cherished memories.

A proud native son of the Southwest side of San Antonio, he leaves a legacy of his love of music and was also a hard worker.

A graduate of Holy Cross High School, John carried immense pride in his education, which led him to an Associate Degree in Music Theory at San Antonio College. As a warehouseman, his work ethic was unmatched, dedicating 15 years at Repco Industries, and 16 years at Otto Dukes, Inc., 3 years at ProBuild, Inc.

Beyond his work, his life as a musician took him to many cities and states. He played the tenor saxophone and loved all genres of music. His love of music and love for his culture will echo in hearts of all who knew him and heard him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan C. Rodriguez and Lucinda Munoz Rodriguez; brothers -in-law, Jose S. Zapata; Jose M. Narvaiz, Jerry (Jenaro) Narvaiz, and his beloved dog Pepe Narvaiz.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Gilda G. Narvaiz; siblings, David Rodriguez (Hope), Diana Zuniga (Ray), Roland Rodriguez (Diane); Norma Jean H. Clark (Johnny), Terri Zapata, Oscar Narvaiz (Irene).

Following a cremation, a celebration of life will be celebrated at the American Legion Alamo Post 2, 3518 Fredericksburg Rd., San Antonio, TX 78201.
