Jojo was the third of six daughters of Phil and Dea Price. She was born in Michigan but moved to Texas when she was very young. Her dad owned the A&W franchise in San Antonio and from 11 years old she would carhop for extra money.
Born adventurous, she flew alone at age 12 to Hawaii to visit her oldest sister. It was a 22-hour trip with an eight-hour layover in San Francisco. Knowing she was flying alone, the airline captain invited her to his home where she spent a fun afternoon with his great family.
Jojo learned to drive at age 13 in Port Aransas, TX and drove all over San Antonio and Port A from then on. She had a mini Crosley jeep she named "Pansy Petunia".
Jojo was a member of the first graduating class of Highlands High School and attended San Antonio College and the University of Houston.
When she moved to Houston as a young woman she quickly began skydiving and she loved it. She traded her television for the sky diving lessons and never regretted the trade.
In Houston she worked in several areas but found her real "job love" when she landed a job with the AstroWorld Hotels Group, where her love of catering began. She worked as Catering Manager in several Houston hotels.. She was later invited to New Orleans to head the catering department of a large hotel on Canal St. There she met the love of her life, Pasquale "Pat" Piro.
Jojo and Pat moved to his hometown of San Diego, CA in the 70s. Her Mother's parting words were, "don't go jumping off a cliff with a kite" because she knew JoJo would want to do this...and she did. Pat and JoJo were married in San Diego, and she continued her catering career in several major hotels there. They lived in San Diego for ten years before moving to JoJo's San Antonio home. She again worked As Director of Catering with a large hotel and then with an off-premise catering company for 20 years.
JoJo and Pat were together 42 years before his death in 2015. She is also preceded in death by her parents Phil & Dea Price, and two sisters, Janey Wilson and Kristeen Blocker-Sapp.
Loved ones that will miss Jojo until they meet again are her son Pasquale Patrick Piro, Jr., wife Olga, five grandkids and ten great grandkids all of San Diego. She also leaves her much loved sisters Kay Langill and husband Ray of San Antonio, Suzi Morris of Houston, Phyllis Winn of New Braunfels and many adored nieces and nephews.
Per JoJo’s request, the only song played repeatedly at her funeral is "Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin...her favorite song.
Services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, March 10, 2023, at The Fellowship of San Antonio, 23755 Canyon Golf Rd.
The family requests bright & cheerful clothing to be worn in her honor. Gathering and food at Phyllis' home immediately after the service.
