Jerry Lynn Hughes

Jerry L. Hughes of Moore,Texas entered into eternal rest, surrounded by loved ones on Friday August 11, 2023 at the age of 77, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on July 10, 1946 in Center, Texas. His family then moved to the Houston Area where he grew up.

He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for 20+ years. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, he continued his college education in the East Texas area. After a few years, he moved his family to San Antonio where he began his second career as a Technical Writer and then Manager of a small technical publication company where he devoted 20+ years there before retiring completely.

He was preceded in death by his father Bertis Eldon Hughes, mother Lula Esther Hughes and brother Wayne Hughes.

He is survived by his loving spouse of 52 years Suzie Hughes and by his children Jodie (Ryan), Michael, and Bobby (Jenney), his grandchildren Tyler (Hailey), Shelby (Patrick), Esme, Harper, and Thunder, and his great grandchildren Ryder, Leighton Hattie and Stetson.

Jerry loved listening to music and always had it playing. He and his beloved wife of 52 years enjoyed dancing and would always be the first on the dance floor at every event. Jerry was a very loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He loved to share his stories from his Veteran days and enjoyed family gatherings. He loved his wife and family deeply, more than anything. He was a very intelligent individual and took pride in helping teach and guide family with their Math and Science homework, generation after generation. He always took the time to make each one of us feel special. He was a true hero, family man and friend to those who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Veteran Service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX at Shelter 3 on Thursday, 7 September 2023 at 10:30 am.
