Jason Lynn Oakes

Jason Lynn Oakes of San Antonio Texas passed away on Friday August 7 2026 at the age of 60. He was born on April 17 1966 in El Centro California. Jason grew up in San Antonio Texas with 3 brothers and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He graduated from Oliver Wendell Holmes High School in 1984 where he thoroughly enjoyed the ROTC program.

He worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car and had just celebrated his 8 year anniversary with them.

He was actively involved with Hope Lutheran Church where he had worked with the Stephen’s Ministry. His passion was Hope Lutheran Church and Enterprise Rent-A-Car and he loved his cat, Peggy, very much.

He is preceded in death by his father, Barry Lee Oakes Sr and step-father, George Barbour.

He is survived by his mom, Claudette Joan Barbour and 3 brothers, Barry Jr (wife Rose), Damon (twin), and Harlan.

Growing up, Jason really enjoyed his time in the Boy Scouts of America where he achieved the rank of Life Scout and was a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He also loved his mom’s devilled eggs at Thanksgiving and Christmas time.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at University Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Jason in his final days, as all of this was very sudden.
