Janet was born in San Antonio and grew up and lived her whole life in Boerne. At just 13 years old, Janet met the love of her life, Ray, and they were married only years later. In the summertime, she could always be found at the Boerne pool teaching Red Cross swimming lessons and was a dedicated Sunday School teacher at the Church of Christ. Janet always supported her family and welcomed everyone into her home with a smile. She was the first to volunteer to be a room mother for her daughters’ classes and made sure to be present for all of her grandchildren’s big moments, sports games, and events.
Janet was full of life - she was outgoing, opinionated, spunky, and always ready for a laugh with friends. She loved the beach and yearly trips to Port Aransas, visiting Enchanted Rock, spending time with her grandchildren, and drinking wine on the porch. Janet was a beautiful writer. She wrote poems and stories for her grandchildren and made up songs for them that are still sung today - a lasting legacy for her first great-grandchild.
Janet is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ray Schwarz, her three daughters, Janette (Jimmy) Berkovsky, Stacey (Ron) Hamlet, and Dorothy Schwarz, her brother, Clyde Arnold (Lorrie) Lancaster, her beloved grandchildren, Randi (Bradley) Taylor, Dr. Emmalie Berkovsky, Clay Hamlet, and Cade (Lauren) Hamlet, and her one-year-old great grandson, James Taylor.
She will always be greatly loved and missed. No funeral services will take place in alignment with Janet’s last wishes.
