Jane Claire Flood, a long time resident of Boerne, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday the 17th of January 2018. She was born October 20, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, to Allan and Claribel Ballantine. She was a graduate of Schurz High School in Chicago, IL, and received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin--Whitewater, where she was an active member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. In addition, she received advanced degrees from Our Lady of the Lake University and the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Jane retired from the San Antonio Independent School District in June of 2013, after working for decades as a school librarian and technology expert. Upon her retirement she became engaged in numerous causes, including civic activities. She served as an election judge for Bexar County for many elections. Jane's hobbies included spending time with her family, reading, traveling, gardening, outings with her friends, and celebrating the holidays fully, especially Christmas.
Jane is survived by her husband, Robert Gibson, her daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Kenneth Haertling, of Henderson, NV, and her son and daughter-in-law Peter and Kim Flood, of Houston Texas. She is also survived by her six grandchildren whom she adored, Quenton, Faith, Truman, Clementine, Jamison and Mia. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Donald Ballantine, of Gilbert, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life service will be held on February 17, 2018, at 9:30 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Leon Springs, TX. Immediately following the service there will be gathering at Leon Springs Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Memorial donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to The Hill Country Animal League or the Hill Country Daily Bread.
