

Jim graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree and earned a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Southern Methodist University. He furthered his professional expertise by completing the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business Administration.
Jim enjoyed a distinguished career in aerospace engineering, contributing to Convair, Martin Co., and Martin-Marietta, and retiring as Vice President.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jim was passionate about golf, building furniture, and creating custom jewelry. In his later years, he took delight in investing and stock trading as a hobby.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Jack McCown; his mother, Elizabeth Lee Wood McCown; and his twin brother, Thomas Edwin McCown.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jo Ann McCown; his three children, Steven McCown and his wife Bernadette, Jeffrey McCown and his wife Bobbie, and Cindy McCown Edwards and her husband William; his grandchildren, Jim, Julie, and Austin McCown, Rachel West, and Victoria Edwards; and his great-grandchildren, Ayla McCown and Warner Edwards whom he loved immensely
