Jimmy grew up in East Dallas and Duncanville, Texas. Jimmy graduated from Duncanville High School in 1958 and then attended Texarkana Junior College where he played varsity football. In 1961 Jimmy enlisted in the Marine Corp Reserve and served until 1967.
From the late 1970s, Jim raised his family, primarily, in Amarillo, Texas. He coached his kids, either from the sidelines or from the stands, in a multitude of sports including baseball, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. Jim and his family also filled these years with travel each summer, camping and visiting State and National parks for weeks at a time. After his kids were through with their sporting careers, ever an athlete, Jim took up racquetball where he achieved a world ranking and became a certified instructor in the sport.
Jim was a career salesman, working in finance and merchandising early in his career and moving on to a long and prestigious career with Motorola, Inc that included a sales presence throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. He retired from Motorola, Inc at the age of 58 after 26 years with the company. After retirement Jim returned to the roads once more and traveled the United States and Canada, visiting his children, and their children, and campgrounds all along the way for several years until he resettled in the Duncanville area of Texas.
Jim is remembered for his warmth, his work ethic, his pride in his family, the joy he took in his grandchildren, and the generous spirit he shared with anyone he encountered who was in need.
