James Allen Gooch

James (Jim) Allen Gooch passed away on November 13, 2018 in Midlothian, TX. at the age of 72. He is predeceased by his wife Rosalene (Scottie) Gooch by a few short months. He leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Angel Gooch; his granddaughter Jordan Gooch; and his brothers and their wives Jay and Judy Gooch and Jerry and Vickey Gooch. Jim is also survived by his loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jim was born on April 13, 1946, to father Joel Gooch and mother Edna Gooch, who predeceased him. He was raised in Shamrock, Tx. and in his high school years lived in Abilene, Tx.

Jim married Scottie Gooch on March 7, 1970. Later Jim joined the Army, they bore a son, and began their travels. They were stationed in Germany and traveled from country to country when on vacation. He rose to the rank of Major before leaving the Army. They eventually settled in the San Antonio area where he contracted through Vinnell Corporation and worked in Saudi Arabia for many years.

After retirement he began his own lawn service business. The last two years of his life were dedicated to caring for his wife of 48 year as she battled cancer. He unknowingly was fighting the same battle, which he lost 8 months after she passed.

Jim arranged to be cremated. His ashes will be interred at Ft. Sam Houston. A memorial service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston on January 4th at 10:15 am. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to S.L.E.W at www.slewwellness.org
