Lord. He was born on February 28, 1929 to Emil Gest and Evelyn Bennett. He grew up in Bastrop, TX and
enlisted in the Marines when he was 15. He was a Korean War Veteran. Jim owned and operated his own plumbing business for over 40 years. He was married to Betty Streeter,
the love of his life for 64 years. They enjoyed a full life of coastal living, fishing, duck hunting, field training hunting dogs, square dancing, farming, dominos, poker, horseshoes and family and friends. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for over 50 years, Hermann Sons, and the VFW Post 6970 to name a few. He is survived by his wife, Betty Gest, son Jimmy (Ricki), long-time friend, John Thompson (De Ann), Sister-in-law, Etta Kosub (Raymond), nieces; Sharon Pesek (David), Marie Stille-Gonzales (Roque), Brenda Stille, Lori LaBarbera (Nick), Karen Koehler, nephews; Kevin Kosub (Melissa), Kenny Koehler (Penny) and great-niece, Taylor LaBarbera great nephews, Patrick LaBarbera, Kolton Koehler, & Nat Kosub. Preceded in death by his daughter, Eva Gest, son Gordon Gest, sister-in-laws;
Earline Stille, Judy Koehler, and family dog, LuLu.
A memorial service will be Held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5520 S. Flores Street,
San Antonio, TX 78214, on January 16, 2018 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6970, 9 6 5 5, T X-1 6 , Poteet, TX 78065 or a charity of your
choosing.
