Born Nov. 10, 1957, Greg (“Papa”) was a son (Rae C. Trimble and Nancy Haugen now deceased), a brother (Lynn and Allen Trimble), a loving husband (Ruth Ann Settlemeyer Trimble), a great father (Christopher Trimble), a fantastic father-in-law (Michelle Trimble), and a doting Grandfather (McKenzie Jean and Michael Rae Trimble).
On September 23, 1978, in San Antonio, TX, Greg married Ruth, his best friend and the love of his life. Shortly after that, he dedicated three years to serving in the military with the 2nd Armored Division Band. Greg’s time in the military included a brief sightseeing trip to Germany, (referred to as “Reforger” in Army speak) and innumerable parades. Other duties as assigned and performed were, the lead guitar player and leader of the 2nd AD Rock combo for the officer’s club and as a section leader. Upon leaving the armed forces with an honorable discharge, Greg pursued and earned a degree in Economics from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Although Greg initially ventured into the business world, he soon recognized his passions lay elsewhere. He returned to UTSA where he earned a second degree and became certified to teach math. The instant Greg started student teaching he knew he had found his true calling.
Affectionately known as "Mr. T," Greg inspired countless students with his dynamically unique style and problem-solving skills. Using a story telling approach to explain concepts and life lessons, he demonstrated a genuine enthusiasm for life and learning. Mr. T’s gifted communication skills created a connection with his students in a way that resonated with them and encouraged them to be successful. After more than 20 years of teaching, Mr. T retired from the world of education in 2012 to take on a new challenge in real estate and spend more time with his family. Joining Lifestyles Realty Central Texas, as a real estate agent, Greg once again found success in helping others. Up until the time of his passing, Greg was an active agent still working with people on their real estate needs.
In his life he was a fence builder, an avid guitar player, a compelling storyteller, a gifted teacher, a successful real estate agent, a great friend, a nurturing mentor, and more. Greg could often be found playing his guitar, talking with people, telling stories, and teaching math or life lessons. With the birth of his grandchildren, however, Papa could most often be found spending time with his grandkids. It didn’t matter if they were making brownies, telling stories, singing, playing chess, going to Schlitterbahn, or hanging out at the park. Papa loved spending time with his grandkids and cherished every moment. Greg’s height was always the first thing people noticed, and for many, the easiest to remember. But it was Greg’s warm heart, his invaluable lessons, and his sincere compassion that left the most lasting impression.
Gregory Rae Trimble was a devout follower of his Lord Jesus Christ. He was deeply committed to his family and went above and beyond to support them. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
