Our precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Geraldine Beatrice Crager (Jerry B or Gigi), passed away peacefully from this life on Saturday, April 20, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Enid, Oklahoma on April 15, 1924, to Daisy Lou (Rawls) and Benjamin Fred Couchman. Gigi attended Enid High School and graduated in 1943. Not long after, she married Army Air Corps pilot Robert Newton Gage. They had a son, Robert, named in honor of his father, who was killed in action in WWII. She then married William Cuno Crager II, and had three children.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Newton Gage, second husband William Cuno Crager II, and son William Cuno Crager III. She is survived by son Robert Lynn Crager (Connie); daughters Charlotte Corinne Martin and Cherie Elaine Zalstein (Russell Weaver); grandchildren Rachel Lynn Crager, Shari Renee' Schwope, Tina Dianne Linder, Elizabeth Blaire Zalstein, Jacqueline Bea (named in her honor) Zalstein, William Evan Zalstein (Arely) (named in honor of his grandfather and uncle), Jerry Lee Hearn (Rebecca), Melanie Leeann Hearn, Shawna Danielle Bryden (Tony); great grandchildren Steven Rayne Schwope, Michael Andrew Barajas Jr., Christopher Devon Barajas, Ashton Tress Barajas, Catherine Victoria Murray (Andrew), Brandon Georgie, Samantha Georgie, Nicole Georgie, Justin Corey Stout, Presley Rose Murrell, Zyllah Caye Bryden, Valyn Farrow Bryden; 2 great-great grandchildren, a niece and two nephews, and Diane Denning who considered Gigi her grandmother. Gigi also leaves behind many friends, a number of whom were able to share her 95th birthday party with her.
Gigi spent many years traveling with her Air Force husband William and had children born on three continents. She resided in San Antonio/Helotes since 1960 and called Texas her home. Her Helotes house on the hill was a favorite place for family and friends to gather.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Heritage Creek who tended to Gigi in her last days. They were very thoughtful and diligent in her care.
She will be missed by all who knew her, and as she was fond of saying upon departures, "later'' ...
