Frank was preceded in death by his parents Edna Craig Bristow and Frank Bristow, Sr. He is survived by his wife, sister Sandra Lee Bristow Moore (Richard), son Randall Craig Bristow (Cheryl), daughter Pamela Lee Bristow O’Keefe (Danny), four grandchildren Trisha Lee O’Keefe, Jessica Lee Bristow (Daniel Lacy), Nicholas James O’Keefe (Amy Gapter), Stephanie Nicole Bristow (Zachary Ludolph), niece Tracey Lee Moore, and two great-grandchildren Grace and Vik Gapter.
Frank was born on October 3, 1933 in Chesapeake City, Maryland. After serving in the Navy during the Korean War, he worked for Aberdeen Proving Ground and then for American Airlines, who relocated the family to San Antonio, Texas in 1964. He worked for American Airlines for over thirty years before retiring. Frank was a member of the Charles W. Anderson #1413 Masonic Lodge, PTA President at Camelot Elementary and then Roosevelt High School, and was a Boy Scout troop leader when Randy became an Eagle Scout. Frank was very handy around the house, tackling some big jobs such as finishing basements and closing in screened porches.
He loved our Lord and remained very active in his home church, Windcrest United Methodist Church (WUMC). He served on various committees and was the chairman of many of them, including as Lay Leader to Rev. Greg Hackett. Every Sunday, Frank could be found greeting new faces, encouraging all friends, and worshiping alongside his family in their pew. He loved to sing and was a member of WUMC’s Chancel Choir, Praise Team, and Jolly Jubilee Jammers for over 15 years. Frank and Doris danced together through the decades and were still dancing for the residents of Brookdale and Sodalis, slow dancing to their song “Always” and jitterbugging to “In The Mood.” His adage was: Our family came, we stayed, and we served. He lived this life of service while always radiating kindness, support, and joy.
Frank’s family would like to thank the caretakers and staff at Brookdale Oakwell, Sodalis Windcrest, and Four Winds Hospice, along with all others who provided so much comfort and assistance during the last years of his life.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Saturday March 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at Windcrest United Methodist Church, 8101 Midcrown Drive, San Antonio, TX, 78239. A LACE (Loving And Caring for Everyone) luncheon will follow on the WUMC campus. For those who are unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed on WUMC’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Frank’s memory to the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association or to the WUMC Foundation.
