Edward Lionel Hoops

Edward Lionel Hoops: March 16, 1931- March. 13, 2019. Passed away due to hemorrhagic stroke. Born in Zanesville, Ohio to Delmer Daniel Hoops and Catherine Taylor. Later Mae Everhart, his Mom, Catherine, died when he was 10 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and love of his life, Shirley Fay Taylor, and his son Brian, his Step Brother Jack Sprouce.

He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Hoops-Wallace and husband John of Warner Robins, GA, grandsons Austin Wallace of Perth, Australia, and Troy Wallace of Colorado Springs, CO. Other survivors include his brother (his birthday present when he was 5years old), Robin Hoops (Dottie Avery) of Florida, nieces Twyla McNeely of New Braunfels, Debbie Watson of San Antonio, great nephews Chad Watson of San Antonio and Taylor Watson (Katrina) of West Virginia. Sister in law, Anne Sprouce of Grandville, Ohio, Cousin Roberta Eveland of Crooksville, Ohio.

Ed and Shirley met while both were enrolled at Texas Christian University. Their wedding was the first celebrated in TCU Chapel.

Ed served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War as an aviation mechanic, working primarily on B-36 engines.

Upon completing his military obligation, Ed and Shirley moved to Ohio where he enrolled at The Ohio State University, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by DuPont and worked for over 30 years at several of their chemical plants.

Ed was a God fearing Christian, member of the Methodist Church, and was very active in each church he attended. He loved singing in the choir, and was in several quartets. The last church of which he was a member was Canyon Lake United Methodist. On moving into Brookdale Hollywood Park He attended Northern Hills United Methodist when he could get a ride, one of the churches he had attended while living in San Antonio.

Edward had a heart as big as Texas, and helped everyone he could.
