Born on February 20,1938 in San Antonio, Dolores was the beloved daughter of Philip and Rosa Flores. She lived a life marked by love for her family and precious husband Rudy, who sadly passed away in 2014.
Dolores is survived by her sister Helen, her brother-in-law Oscar Gallo, and many other family members and friends who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her brothers Philip and Victor, and her beloved niece and Godchild, Holly Gallo Richards.
Dolores was an artist, who loved to oil paint beautiful scenes of flowers and sailing boats. She also loved cooking for family and entertaining her forever friends along with her beloved Rudy.
Dolores and Rudy didn’t have any children but quickly took up the responsibility of being God-parents to Helen and Oscar's children Julie Gallo and Holly Gallo Richards. Then came the nephew and niece, Ava Rose (Holly and Jeff Richards child) and Aiden Phillip Julie’s child. She was an attentive and loving Grand Aunt. Both Ava and Aiden and their families' were able to say their goodbyes and pray with their Tia Lola. Although she was very sick and weak, she acknowledge their love till the very end with a big smile and hug. Dolores also leaves many nephews and nieces from both sides of the family whom she loved very much, especially when they would call her or come by to take her out to lunch.
Dolores and Rudy befriended many wonderful friends that need to be acknowledged for their truest of friendship overs the many years together. They are Edward and Luz Day, Bertha ( her best friend- deceased)and Bob Varela; Henrietta and Bernie Richards( both deceased), and Iris a frequent visitor during Dolores illness as well as her husband Bill Barno (deceased). These friends would especially gather all together to celebrate Dolores and Rudy’s wedding anniversary at one of the local hotel celebration every New Years Eve, creating some unforgettable memories together.
Other special friends of Dolores was a Bible group consisting of some special wonderful women who were loving, caring, true Christians that she admired and loved dearly. She enjoyed their gatherings learning more about God's word and her relationship with the Lord.
During her final days Dolores kept asking for Bella, Helen’s lovable Shitzu dog who had become a close loving friend of Dolores, even being allowed on Dolores’s bed with her.
During Dolores illness Bella could sense something was wrong with her Tia Lola and was always near her every chance she had. These days Bella is seen looking for her and looks when one mention Tia Lola.
Helen and family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the home care team and the Embrace Hospice team that made sure that Dolores received the best medical care and comfort with excellent nurses and medical staff. Also, the final private home care staff (Geraldine, Stacy and Gerald) who gave Dolores the finest care anyone could expect, always making her feel as if she was at home.
We take comfort in knowing she is finally back in the arms of her beloved Rudy. We don’t just mourn her passing, we also celebrate the vibrant light, her fierce and loving spirit but also the beautiful 88 year legacy and memories she leaves in each of us.
Dolores, REST IN PEACE, we will all miss You!
