

Known as “Dig” to his family, he was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on August 14th, 1980. He was blessed by a large and loving family and his passing is a great loss to all whom he touched during his short time on this Earth.
Derrick’s witty humor and keen intelligence brought infectious laughter to everyone he came across. Derrick’s passion in life was serving others. His ability to empathize and provide comfort made the field of nursing his true calling. He had a larger than life, charismatic personality, and he will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Derrick is survived by his beloved wife, Tracy Calhoun, his children, Rylee Jane, Brenna Rose, and Finn Elliott; his stepchildren Navie, Jenah, Aubra, and Kalyn; his parents Scott and Dianne Calhoun, his brother Shawn Erik Calhoun and his grandmother Catherine Holden. Derrick is preceded in death by his grandparents: Sam Holden, and Bill and Pat Calhoun.
A memorial service hosted by the Tracy Calhoun and family will be at Riverside Community Church on June 5th, 2022, at 8pm. A memorial service hosted by Scott and Dianne Calhoun and family will be held at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, time and date to be determined.
