David Hernandez

"It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother David Hernandez. David died peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by family, on February 20, 2025.

David was born on November 22, 1942, in San Antonio Texas to Beto J. and Beatrice Moreno Hernandez. He attended Lanier HS, later serving four years in the Air Force and one year in the Merchant Marines. He married Mary Louise Navarrete and last August celebrated 63 years of marriage. Those who knew David will miss his sense of humor, quick wit, ability to instantly turn strangers into close friends, boundless generosity, and his tremendous love and affection for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife, children David (Christina), Angela Pena (Oscar), Veronica Valle (Gerard), Edward, and Christopher (April), brother Mike (Rose), sister-in-law Norma, seventeen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved brother Albert. He loved and was loved in return by his large family, who he enjoyed entertaining on holidays, special events, and during many informal family gatherings.

David’s family would like to thank Bea, Karen, Danny, and Raul from SA Nurses, Pita from WellMed, Sam, Marissa, Cheri, and Sara from US Renal, and all the others who provided so much comfort and assistance during the last year of his life.

David's Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday March 7th at Christ the King Catholic Church, 2610 Perez St, San Antonio, 78207."
