Charles E. (Chuck) Yarbrough of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Friday, December 20th at the age of 88. He was born on September 27, 1936, in Jay, Florida where he grew up as the youngest sibling in Molino, Florida with two sisters and one brother. His father died when he was very young, and he quit school in the 6th grade to help provide for the family. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the United States Navy.
He worked as a Cook in the Navy on several ships. When he retired, he worked as a manager for a Motel and a Storage Unit in San Antonio, Texas. And then was a Park host for a Corp of Engineers Park at Canyon Lake in Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Lorraine Yarbrough and one son Ricky E. Yarbrough of Florida.
He is survived by his two sons, Bruce E. Yarbrough and Michael E. Yarbrough, 7 grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Chuck loved the outdoors. He loved to ride horses and fish with his sons and grandchildren. He also loved animals.
The family would like to thank Avalon Memory Care Facility and Magnolia Hospice Company for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209 on Friday, January 17th at 10:45 a.m. Visitation with the family will begin immediately following the celebration at The Longhorn Café, 1003 Rittiman Rd, San Antonio, TX. We are having a dutch meal to talk about and celebrate the life of Chuck.
