

Charles Verne Case (Charlie) of San Antonio Formerly of Brownwood, peacefully entered into his eternal rest on July 22, 2019, surrounded by family at the 1 Towers, Park Lane., San Antonio, where he resided for seven years.
Charlie was born, November 16, 1929, on their farm, near New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He attended porter Township Consolidated School, after which he enlisted in the United States Amy in 1948. He worked as a wheeled vehicle mechanic until discharged in 1952 and began working at General Electric in Erie, PA.
In 1954, he married the love of his life, Lorena May Phares. They had two daughter: Theresa Diane Case, born in 1957 and Christine Diane Case, born in 1960.
In 1959, he reenlisted in the army, attending electronics schools at Ft. Monuth, New Jersey then Nuclear Weapons School at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His responsibilities were related to nuclear weapons assembly, maintenance, calibration of test equipment used to test the fusing and firing circuits of weapons, inspections of U.S. and Nato units that could produce a reliable weapon in a safe and secure environment. During his military career, he was stationed in the U.S., Korea, and Germany.
In 1975, he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer4 and settled with his family in Brownwood, Texas. He retired from GTE in 1992. Charlie and Dee eventually went full time RVing. During this time, they joined a non-denominational Christian mission group known as Servants on Wheels Ever Ready (SOWERS). They would help build and maintain Christian schools, camps, and churches. Between missions, they built a home at Pipe Creek, Texas.
After Dee’s passing in 2011, Charlie moved into the Towers Retirement Building in July 2012. He enjoyed doing woodwork in their shop and favors for many residents. Charlie was happiest when helping others joking, bringing a smile to everyone’s’ face, and visiting his grand-dog Bella. He was truly blessed with many friends at the Towers and will be greatly missed.
Charlie is survived by his daughters; Theresa and Chirstine, nephews: Guy (Ruth), Kevin(Pam), and a host of many friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, brother, two sisters, and a niece.
A Committal Service will be held at 10:15 am on Thursday, August 8, 2019, in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas under the direction of Neptune Society and Military Personal.
