Born September 28, 1939, in Monterrey, Mexico, he was the son of Guadalupe Luis and Maria Guadalupe Reyes. Cesar was a kindhearted individual who built his life around core values of hard work, helping others in need, and family.
Cesar’s lifelong passion was building, and he earned a bachelor’s degree in residential construction from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. He worked for J. W. Chandler Construction as an estimator and project manager on commercial construction projects before venturing out on his own. Fulfilling his entrepreneurial spirit, Cesar started a home building company and later founded CSR Contracting, Inc., a commercial general contracting firm in San Antonio, TX. Some of his residential projects included building homes in San Antonio, Pearsall, Austin, Brownsville, Eagle Pass, and Horseshoe Bay, TX. Among many of his commercial projects were the construction of the extended care and nursing home facilities at both the Veterans Administration Hospital in Kerrville, TX and the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, construction of the new U.S. Post Office in League City, TX, multiple service centers and projects throughout the state of Texas for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (now AT&T), and project management of the renovation of the historic Robert E. Lee Hotel in San Antonio.
Known for his wisdom and generosity, Cesar could always be relied upon to help others. Whether family, friends, his employees, business acquaintances, or others, Cesar was the ‘go-to’ person many would turn to in times of need. Above all, he was a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle who took immense pride in his family. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maria Guadalupe and Guadalupe Luis Reyes, and his brother Jose Luis Reyes. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha Reyes; his children Elizabeth Rodriguez (husband, Arthur), Sergio Reyes (wife, Dana), Consuelo Gonzalez (husband, Heriberto); his grandchildren Cesar S. Reyes II (wife, Rachel), Christanie Monreal (husband, Jose), Elyse Ordogne (husband, Kiah), Cara Hua (husband, Brandon), Cameron Reyes (wife, Ariel), and Nico Gonzalez; 8 great grandchildren; his brother Eloy Reyes, sisters Maria Reyes Bustos and Linda Stewart, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
