…died at home on February 8, 2025, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family who loved him deeply, and is survived by his wife Carol, his daughter Jillian (Charlie) and his son Wilson (Madeline), and beloved grandsons Zachary, Liam and Eamon. Also surviving him are his siblings Paula Cauley, Billy Cauley (Beth) and Ronnie Cauley, along with a niece and nephews that he loved.
Bruce was born February 4, 1953, in Alice, Texas, the youngest of the four children of P. D. and Mavis Cauley. He attended the University of Texas on an NROTC scholarship and then served in the Navy for four peaceful years, ultimately driving destroyers. After the Navy, Bruce married Carol Marinchak in Philadelphia, returned to UT for football games and an MBA, and then moved to Dallas to begin his banking career, first with Republic Bank, then with Banque Paribas.
His client The Dyson Kissner Moran Corp hired him from Paribas in 1995 to be their Mergers and Acquisitions VP, and the family moved to Larchmont, NY. He grew weary of the cold, snowy weather and headed back to his Texas roots in 2009, settling in San Antonio and looking for a new business opportunity. A lifelong learner, Bruce plunged into understanding the oil and gas industry, specifically diesel fuel, when he began working as the CFO at RediFuel in 2011.
Bruce was a man who made lasting friendships everywhere he lived, worked and traveled. He had a great sense of humor, loved history, travel, golf, wine, good food and good conversation. And he loved music, to listen to and to sing. He was a choir member at every church he attended…Holy Covenant UMC in Carrollton, TX, Marmaroneck UMC in NY, and Alamo Heights UMC in San Antonio. Bruce’s faith also called him to serve each of those churches in a variety of leadership positions through the years.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held on March 14, 2025, 2pm, at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, 825 E. Basse Rd, San Antonio.
