Bonnie Lee (Tuffs) Allor was born on April 23, 1954, in Tigerton, Wisconsin. At the age of 72, she went home to her Lord and Savior following a long battle with brain cancer, which she faced with grace, courage, and dignity. Raised in an Air Force family, Bonnie experienced a childhood filled with travel and new adventures, living at various duty stations, including Japan and California. After her father retired from the Air Force, the family settled near Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where Bonnie continued her life's journey.
Bonnie graduated from John Jay High School in 1972 and went on to attend nursing school in Austin. She devoted her professional life to caring for others, serving as a Registered Nurse at Methodist Hospital Medical Center in San Antonio for 40 years before retiring in 2016. Her compassion for others extended beyond her nursing career and was deeply rooted in her Christian faith. As a member of Grace Point Church and Great Oaks Fellowship, Bonnie maintained a steadfast commitment to daily prayer, Bible study, and living out her faith. Her life reflected a spirit of service, devotion, and love for others.
Bonnie had a deep love of quilting and was a highly skilled quilter who devoted many hours each day to her craft. Through her talent and generosity, she created beautiful quilts for family, friends, and charitable causes, sharing warmth and comfort through every stitch. Her creativity extended beyond quilting to include handmade purses and a variety of accessories. She treasured her friendships with her fellow members of "The Quilt Babes" and was an enthusiastic participant in numerous quilting retreats, where she enjoyed the camaraderie, shared creativity, and lasting friendships that grew from their common passion. Bonnie also felt truly blessed to have worked for several years at Memories By the Yard, where she happily worked alongside friends she met there.
Quilting was more than a hobby to Bonnie; it was a labor of love through which she expressed her creativity, generosity, and affection for others.
Bonnie is survived by her mother, Helen (Mosel) Tuffs; her husband, Mark Allor; her sons, Russell (Sara) Walker and Jack (Joanna) Walker; grandsons Owen and Dominick; her brother, Jeff Tuffs (Inge); her sister, Sue Salazar; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Tuffs, and her first husband, Kenneth Walker.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Devoted Care Hospice and Cyst Carehomes, both in San Antonio, for the compassionate, loving care and support they provided Bonnie during the final weeks of her life. Their kindness, dedication, and gentle attention brought comfort to Bonnie and peace of mind to her family during an especially difficult time. The family will always be grateful for the care and compassion they showed Bonnie.
A Celebration of Life honoring Bonnie is planned for mid-January. Details regarding the service will be shared at a later date.
