With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Benjamin V. Miranda, who departed this life on February 6, 2025, at the age of 74. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and dear friend, Benjamin left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew him.
Born on September 5, 1950, Benjamin’s journey took him through many places he called home, including Morrill, NE; Omaha, NE; Phoenix, AZ; and San Antonio, TX. No matter where he was, his warmth, laughter, and welcoming spirit made everyone feel like family.
Benjamin was blessed with 56 beautiful years of marriage to his beloved wife, Mary Miranda. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. He was a proud father to Carmen (Eddie) and Benjamin (Monica) and an adoring grandfather to Brian, Brandon, and Mia, who brought immense joy to his life.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Benjamin spent 25 years at the Omaha World-Herald before transitioning to the insurance industry, where he worked for five years before retiring. Beyond his career, he was an entrepreneur, owning and operating the Copa Alegre, a bar that became a gathering place for friends and community. His passion for music and deep love for his family were at the heart of everything he did.
Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin A. Miranda and Sulema Valls Miranda; his sister, Josephine Miranda Shaw; and his brothers, Richard Miranda, Robert Miranda, and Nickolas Miranda.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Miranda; his children, Carmen (Eddie) and Benjamin (Monica); and his grandchildren, Brian, Brandon, and Mia. His love for them was immeasurable, and his legacy will continue to live on through them.
Benjamin’s presence was a gift—his kindness, laughter, and unwavering pride in his loved ones made every moment spent with him special. He had an extraordinary way of making everyone feel welcome, included, and valued. His legacy of love and joy will live on in the countless hearts he touched.
A celebration of Benjamin’s life will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, 6PM, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd., San Antonio, TX 78238, where family and friends will come together to honor and remember the remarkable man he was.
Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will remain in the music he loved, the memories he created, and the love he so freely gave. Rest peacefully, Benjamin. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
