Born on June 21, 1951, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Tony was raised in Gloversville, NY alongside his two brothers and three sisters. He attended Gloversville High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army at just 17 years old. A proud Army Ranger, Paratrooper, and medic, Tony served two tours in Vietnam, where he courageously aided fellow soldiers and formed lifelong bonds with his comrades.
After his military service, Tony returned to Gloversville and began a career in sales. He later moved to Detroit, where he worked in the financial services industry before returning to upstate New York to invest in and manage residential properties. In 2022, he retired and relocated to Texas to be close to his Army brothers.
Tony lived life with passion and purpose. He had a deep love for horse racing, a sharp mind for numbers, and a soft spot for his beloved dogs, whom he treated to gourmet meals. A graduate of culinary school and an avid reader, he was always up for a good conversation—thoughtful, wise, and deeply loyal. His word was his bond, and he quietly helped others through difficult times without ever seeking recognition.
Tony was also a generous philanthropist, contributing to several charities throughout his life, with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital being especially close to his heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Compagnone and Evelyn Seelow, and will be reunited in Heaven with his beloved grandmother Nellie and his best friend, Roy Warner.
Tony is survived by his daughter Barbara “Barbie” Montgomery (Chip), son Michael Montgomery; brothers Ralph Compagnone (Debra) and Robert Seelow (Michele), sisters Tammy Adelman, Carol Small (Clayton), and Rebecca Seelow, grandchildren Kyley Montgomery-Noel (Bailee), Bralynn Ferland (Casey), Nate Noel, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Tony was a hero, a friend, and a someone who touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
