Ann Reid Francis passed away peacefully at home on December 16th at the age of 84 in New Braunfels, Texas. She was born on December 10th, 1940 in Rochester, New York to Dr. James H. Reid and Huberta C. Reid. Ann was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, Webster H. Francis III (Web) and her brother James H. Reid, Jr. and his wife Andrea.
Ann lived her younger years in Rochester, graduating from Brighton High School in 1958 and the University of Rochester in 1963, earning BA and BS degrees. Following graduation from college, she married her husband Webster and lived in Fairport, New York. They had three children, Hunter, Chad and Crista.
Ann loved being a mother and while raising her family, she pursued a part-time modelling career. At age 40, she took a position with the former Sibley's department store as Manager of a personal shopping service called ‘At Your Service’. She loved fashion and enjoyed her job immensely. In 1987, Ann joined her husband in Boston and took a position with Fidelity Investments. While there, she earned several awards for her outstanding service to the company.
In 2000, Ann and her husband moved to Danville, California to be closer to their family. Upon moving to California, Ann took a position with Carlton Senior Living. She enjoyed working with seniors and held lectures at the various communities on ‘Feeling Fabulous at Seventy’. She retired as Senior Director of Administration in 2016 and moved with her husband to Reno-Tahoe, Nevada. Upon her husband's death in 2021, Ann moved with her son, Hunter, to New Braunfels, Texas where she enjoyed her final years.
Ann is survived by her loving children, Webster Huntington Francis IV (Hunter), Chadwick Reid Francis and Crista Ann Francis. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Katherine and Frank Hall, as well as by two nephews, Brent H. Reid, Christopher A. Kappler and two nieces, Alison R. MacKay and Kimberly K. Simmons.
Prayers for Ann during her transition are appreciated by her family. For her entire adult life, her family was her number one priority, though she had many interests. Ann was a consummate animal lover and a fervent patriot. She loved her country. Two of her favorite charities were the American Humane Society and Disabled American Veterans. Those wishing to honor Ann with a contribution may consider those organizations.
A service of remembrance for Ann will be held Friday, January 3rd at The First Protestant Church of New Braunfels at 11:00 a.m.
