

He attended Mount Vernon Elementary School for grammar school and graduated from Morgan Park High School in Chicago. He was the commanding Lt Colonel for his ROTC unit in high school. When his draft notice was looming he joined the Air Force in April of 1960. He was trained to be a radiology technologist and served in this role for 17 years. In 1978 he cross-trained and became a First Sergeant and served in this role until his retirement in 1984 after 24 years of service. He served in several locations across the world including a tour in Vietnam. He earned numerous awards and medals including a Bronze Star and a Meritorious Service Medal. In 1975 he met the love of his life, Vickie, who was an Air Force Nurse and married her in 1977. They were happily married for 47 years. He has one daughter, Christine Jane, from a previous marriage and two granddaughters Cassandra and Courtney.
After his retirement from the Air Force in 1984 he followed Vickie with her Air Force assignments. He also went to college and obtained both an Associate’s degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1987. He either worked or volunteered for most of his life. When in the Azores with Vickie he was a full-time volunteer for 2 years at the base post office. Once Vickie was assigned to Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, UT in 1992 he went to school again and became a realtor. While an Ogden realtor he was in charge of the Education Committee for 2 years and was later elected President of the Greater Ogden Area Association of Realtors in 2001. During this time he spent a number of years volunteering as a Poll Worker and later Poll Manager for Weber County. He also volunteered at the Weber County Animal Shelter as a dog walker. He was a 3-year volunteer for the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Andy was funny, smart, loving, kind, generous, willing to assist anyone who needed help, and had never met a stranger. He loved Vickie, life, family and friends, his dogs (Homer, Penelope, Priscilla, Bitsie, Steve and Edie), reading, baseball (especially the Cubs), driving, grilling, traveling, eating good food with family and friends and making new friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and both brothers, Malcolm and Owen. He is survived by his wife, his daughter Christine (Mike), granddaughters Cassandra and Courtney, a niece Ranee, and her daughter, Shama, and a sister-in-law Barbara.
