

Wayne Alan Wilde was born on July 6, 1949, in Payson, Utah to Clarence and Louise Wilde of Eureka, Utah. He passed away on November 1, 2024, from complications of COPD and bouts with bladder and kidney cancer throughout the last few years. He spent most of his childhood in Eureka. He moved to Dugway Proving Grounds, Utah to live with his brother and family after the death of his parents. He attended Dugway High School where he met his wife, Mona, whom he later married in 1968. He volunteered for the draft shortly after graduating high school, joined the Army, and served for two years. While fighting in the Vietnam War, he was wounded twice and was awarded three Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, and other medals for Valor and Heroism during combat. He was Honorably discharged as Sargeant E-5 in 1969.
After his tour of duty, he returned home to Salt Lake City to his wife and firstborn. Together, they ra/ised three children and made their home mostly in the South Jordan area. He spent a short time in construction building houses. This gave him skills and experience that he used throughout his life. He built our 3rd family home at Kimball’s Junction, outside of Park City, UT, his youngest daughter’s first house when she married, and a cabin in Timber Lakes for his in-laws. He remodeled and finished basements for many family and friends during the years. Wayne was a hard-working man who took pride in all he did. His children always said there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or build. He began a career as a Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service in the 1970s where he retired in 2004.
He loved the outdoors and was passionate about hunting and fishing. He never missed a chance to do either until his illness became debilitating. He owned several trailers, loved camping. He also enjoyed traveling, gambling, motorcycles, cars, trucks, telling stories and time with his family. He was always there for his children, there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. They loved and admired him very much. He was loved by many and left a lasting impression on all those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, three sisters, father and mother-law, brother-in-law, nephew, and many other loved ones.
Wayne leaves behind his wife, Mona, of almost 57 years, daughters Yvette and Tina, his son, Michael (Danielle) Five grandchildren: Vanessa (Nate) and Devante (Josie), Olivia, Damon, and Jasmine, also three Great-Grandchildren: Lily, Vivienne and Lennon and many other close relatives.
Thanks to Applegate Hospice, who cared for him these last few months. To Neptune Society and Valley View Cemetery, we thank you for guiding us through Wayne’s funeral with kindness and patience. There’s be a slight change in plans….The funeral will now be held at one place on Friday, November 15th at Valley View Mortuary in West Valley. 4335 W. 4100 So. Mass will begin in the Mortuary chapel at noon, followed by the Internment of ashes with Honor Guard at 1:15 P.M. and The Celebration of Life luncheon at 1:45 P.M.
