Ray LeBlanc, born in Birmingham, Alabama passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, April 3rd, just before 4 a.m., at the age of 77. His beloved wife of 47 years, Malgosia Maria, was by his side.
Ray lived a vibrant, adventurous, and faith-filled life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was a man of deep faith and an inspiring devotion to his family. Among his many passions were acrobatic flying, race car driving, and his remarkable work in international business. Known for his adventurous spirit and talent for storytelling, he delighted friends and family with his humor and larger-than-life tales.
Ray's strong work ethic was evident from an early age. He graduated college in just 3 1/2 years, earning a double major in chemistry and mathematics, all while working full time. After graduating, he spent 10 years at DuPont before taking the reins as the second-generation owner of the National Broomcorn Company (later renamed PelRay International). For 40 years, he worked alongside his business partner Bart, traveling the world to buy and sell broomcorn, cotton mop fibers, handles, and more. Ray’s dedication, depth of knowledge and integrity were known throughout the industry, and many of those who worked with him became lifelong friends.
He is survived by his wife, Malgosia Maria; his three children, Peter, Maya, and John; his three cherished grandchildren, with a fourth on the way; and his siblings, Jerry, Sid, and Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Mary, his brother Michael, and his sister Theresa.
If there are airplanes in heaven, we can imagine Ray behind the controls, soaring the skies. Or perhaps he's gathered with loved ones, sharing stories and playing on the floor with his grandchildren there.
A funeral Mass to honor Ray’s life will be held on Friday, May 2nd, at 3 p.m. (Mountain Time) at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Draper, Utah. The Mass will also be livestreamed at the following:
