72 years of age.
Dad was born May 29th, 1950 in Vancouver B.C to John and Betty Oviatt. He graduated from
Jordan High school in the class of 1969. After he graduated he operated and co-owned a KFC
for 13 years and went on to driving trucks for Corlette and Dats trucking until he retired. He
proudly coached his son’s in youth soccer and taught them a valuable lesson of being a team
player on the field and in life.
These were a few of his accomplishments, but his biggest was his family and the love he had
for them.
Dad had many hobbies like camping, fishing, 4- wheeling and cooking new recipes. He
especially enjoyed his time with family at the strawberry reservoir. He was also an advet Utes
fan and never missed a game. He never left the house without his ute gear on. He was known
for his compassion, charm, competitiveness and would embrace anyone he met. Dad’s sense of
humor would make your stomach hurt from laughing.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Oviatt, and his mother, Betty Oviatt.
He is survived by his wife Penny Oviatt, his 4 children Travis (Jenny) Oviatt, Tyler Oviatt, Halie
(Trini) Quintana, Carly (Matthew) Owen and 3 step children; Jesse (Jennifer) Webb, Joshua (Sarah) Webb and Amanda (Roy) Burk. 16 Grandchildren, 11 Great grandchildren. His siblings Marcia, Jim, Sandra, Judy, Valeria, Dave, Tracy.
We will be having a Celebration of Life/Open House on February 25, 2023 from 4-7 pm. at Glenmoor Golf Club, 9800 S. 4800 W. in South Jordan, Utah 84095. In honor of Dad, come wearing your Utes gear or something red. Flowers can be ordered through Sandy flower shop (801-624-6544) at 9495 S. 700 E. unit #2, and they will have them delivered for the open house.
