Kim was born January 13th, 1958 to Charles Deloy "Spug" and Dorothy Lee "Dot" Fowers in Ogen, UT. He was a Hooper boy through-and-through! He began working on his Grandma's farm at 8 years old, and driving a tractor by the age of 10. He loved working on the farm with Uncle Bob!
Kim Met Sherie (DeGroot) and her 16 month old daughter, Andrea, in 1980 and he was smitten! Sherie always told people that he rescued her, so she called him, "My Hero"! They were married on July 25th, 1981 in Ogden, UtaH. They went on to build their family by welcoming son Chad, in 1982, and son Todd, in 1987. On February 28th, 1998 they were sealed as a family for time and eternity in the Logan Temple.
He worked on a dairy farm for most of his career, until the industry began to dwindle. He then transitioned to Hostess Wonder Bread, and the retired from Sarah Lee in 2014. The very next day, he began working for Weber School District as a custodian. He especially loved working with the elementary kids, and they were drawn to him as well. He was such a fun guy to be around, and was always handing out candy, so of course they adored him.
Kim served faithfully in the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as First Counselor in the Bishopric, along with many other callings. He truly loved everyone around him and loved serving the Lord. He had a way of making everyone he came in contact with feel like they were the most important person in the room. Kim handed out Life Savers mints as freely as his hugs. And you don't get to take just one. He'd tell you "Don't be cheap!" if your pockets weren't full when you parted, he'd make you take more. Mints were his love language. Kim also served as a Primary Teacher with Sherie, which he enjoyed.
Kim is survived by his wife, Sherie DeGroot Fowers, daughter Andrea (Tyler) Taylor, son Chad Fowers, son Todd (Brittany) Fowers, sister stacie Johnson, step-siblings JoAnne Jeffs and Jesse Thompson and 10 grandchildren. His preceded in death by his father Charles DeLoy Fowers, mother Dorothy Lee Thompson, and bro Greg Fowers.
Kim's smile and laugh was unavoidably infectious. He was a big guy with an even bigger heart and his love would fill the entire room. And he gave the BEST hugs. His sense of humor was warm and playful and he always had a witty response tucked in his pocket to deliver at just the right time. He loved his animals, and especially had a soft spot for his cats and his 10 adoring grandchildren. Kim had been so happy and was in the best place possible to be called back Home. We know he is at peace with his father, mother, brother and other family that have been waiting patiently to embrace him.
A Celebration Of Life will be held Friday, October 9th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm.
