John Emil Hallgren Jr. Born: December 22, 1927, died: February 17, 2017. He married his “sweetheart” Gail Inman, April 5, 1952. They met in Yosemite, CA where they both worked for the Curry Company. He considered her, “The most beautiful girl in the world.” John, loved his cabin at Shasta Lake, in Northern CA, where he would “putter” and fish. He was proceeded in death by his parents, John Emil Hallgren Sr. and Katherine Elizabeth Sangenitto and his great-grandson Cater John Gardner. He was born in San Francisco, CA, moved to Pleasant Hill, CA in his late teens. After his marriage he moved into the apartment behind the “shed” then moved to a home he and his father built just down the hill. When his children were small he moved his family to Lafayette, CA. John and Gail, after they became empty nesters, then moved to Sonoma, CA. Later, John and Gail moved to West Jordan, UT to be closer to their children. John was a firm believer in education. He graduated with a Bachler’s of Art degree from Fresno State then received his Master’s in Zoology from UC Berkeley. He was a Vice-President at Mann Optical Company. Then created his own company, P.D A., Inc. John and his family became members of the Church of Latter-Day Saints in 1967. This is something he held dear the rest of his life. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gail Inman Hallgren. Their children: Paul (Brenda), Julie (John), Leslie, and John (Margaret). Grandchildren: Michael (Stephanie) Hallgren, Katherine Hallgren, Liza (Brad) Christensen, James (Sarah) Gardner, Sara Shaw, Taylor (Dallas) Pedersen, Katherine(Jake) Hallgren, Jennifer Hallgren and Carly Hallgren. Great-Grandchildren: Tori Christensen, Tanner Christensen, Hayden Gardner. Memorial Services at LDS Meetinghouse located 1465 West Bristol Ridge Road, West Jordan, UT. At 7:00 pm, March 10, 2017.
