Glenda Cecilia Scioneaux, a 65-year resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away September, 2024 while vacationing in Utah. Glenda was born in Roatan, Honduras, where she lived with her mother & father, and 5 siblings. They moved to La Ceiba, Honduras, whereby all the children attended Mazapan School. Upon graduation, Glenda moved to New Orleans, La, to pursue a career in advertising. It is in New Orleans Glenda met and married Fred, the love of her life. He supported her dreams of a career in advertising, as she became instrumental in the building of two major business in New Orleans – starting with The Westbank Guide. After achieving and holding the status of Art Director, her career took a detour with the illness and tragic death of her youngest daughter, Karen Lynn. Once she was able to gather, Glenda joined forces with Michael Roberson to expand the legacy of Roberson Advertising and after 28 years, she retired and continued to be of service as a volunteer at the Gretna Food Bank and a proud member of the Theta Club. She was a beautiful lady, a devoted Catholic, possessing a heart of gold for the underdog. She loved fashion, sassy shoes, and was always happy to help a friend in need. Her friends called her the “Queen of the neighborhood” as she took her evening stroll, feeding and caring for the neighborhood cats. Glenda always had animal companions and was a passionate advocate for the care and welfare of shelter animals. Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, daughter, Karen, her mother and father, Emma & Joseph Jackson, sisters- Merris Martinez, Maxine Vines, and brother, Donald Jackson. Glenda is survived by her daughter, Patty Hegwood (Jason), her granddaughter- Hannah Hegwood, sisters- Joan Ancker and Carolina Gorman, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mass for Glenda will be held Friday, December 20th, 12:30pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Belle Chasse, La, followed by a gathering of family and friends at Glenda’s home where we may all share memories and comfort. If you are not able to attend the service, please join us at the home gathering starting 2pm. Interment of cremains will be a private ceremony held at a later date. All expressions of sympathy are welcome including donations to her favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Spaymart of New Orleans, and Best Friends Animal Society.
