Estella Vasquez Segovia, 90, of South Ogden, Utah, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2025. Born in Harlingen, Texas on October 11, 1934 to Sebastian and Sabina Vasquez, Estella had a successful professional career in procurement for the US Department of Defense. She worked at Crystal City in the Washington, DC area, often visiting the Pentagon, and later at Hanscom Air Force Base in the Boston, Massachusetts area.
Estella married Jesús Segovia in 1954, and together they raised four children: daughters DiAnna, Odett, Corina; and son Jesse, Jr. Estella and Jesús were long-time members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Estella was the third of thirteen children and was raised on a ranch in South Texas. She spent much of her childhood in the rough Texas outdoors, and was extremely hard-working and successful at whatever she attempted. She painted and decorated furniture, was an avid landscaper and gardener, and made many quilts. Estella and Jesús often drove between the homes of her children in Utah, California, and Massachusetts.
Estella is preceded in death by her husband, Jesús, her parents, and six of her siblings. She leaves behind 5 siblings, 15 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Estella’s life will be held at 10:30 AM on April 19, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel at 5735 Crestwood Drive, Ogden, Utah 84405-4868.
