09/16/1952 – 01/08/2024
Dale Marc Sidener (71) passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8 th , 2024. He was at home and surrounded by
loved ones, which is exactly how he wanted it.
Dale was born on September 16 th , 1952 to Lawrence “Bud” and Jean Sidener. He was the middle child of three
sons: Larry being the oldest and Kim being the youngest. In his younger years the family moved to Quincy,
California; a quaint, rural town in Northern California. He had a childhood filled with close friends who enjoyed all
the small town shenanigans: camping, fishing, riding motorcycles, road trips, bonfires and beer at the lake. In High
School he was Captain of the High School Football Team, Senior Class President and was voted & crowned Prom
King his senior year. An all-American boy and a true leader, all the way around!
In 1971, at the age of 19 he proudly joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California. He served 4 years
and, in that time, finished with the rank of 2 nd class.
In 1974 he married Karla Ricks. After Dale and Karla married, they moved from San Diego to Utah and had 2
daughters, Kristen Rose (1977) and Meghan Kate (1978). They later divorced and Dale reconnected with fellow
Quincy High School Graduate Barbara Babcock and they married in 1984. In 1985 Dale and Barbara had Jessica
Marie. He was so proud to be a girl dad.
Dale had numerous careers and was amazing at all of them. Mountain Bell Phone Company where he worked for
many years. He owned Sidener Landscape in Quincy where all 3 of his daughters had the opportunity to work with
him, he loved that and was so proud. The whole town loved him and the amazing work he did. He was a member
of the ski patrol at Johnsville Historic Ski Resort. He was a Captain for the Quincy Fire Department/Search & Rescue
where he volunteered countless hours and was a devoted and loyal asset. In 2003 Dale, Barbara and Jessica moved
back to Utah to be closer to his girls and Grandkids. He got a job at South Valley Sewer where he later retired in
2015. Shortly after retirement they moved back to Quincy to be in the small town again while enjoying retirement
life.
Dale loved everything outdoors!!! Camping with friends and family, little critters, Harley rides, working in his yard
and everyone else’s, 4-wheeling in the mountains and sand dunes, geo-cashing, making cribbage boards (he played
a mean game and was hard to beat which he proudly passed on to all 3 of his girls!). And the list goes on…..
To know Dale was to love him. He hugged EVERYONE and gave the BEST hugs. He cared about his family and friends
deeply, and was not shy about letting people know how much he loved them and appreciated them.
He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife Barabara of 39 years (gone too soon May 4th, 2023), his mom and
dad, his brother Larry, his life long best friend Jim Lamb and his Mother-In-Law Joan Babcock.
He is survived by and will be terribly missed by his 3 daughters; Kristen Rose Sidener, Meghan Kate Larson (Eric),
and Jessica Marie Artz (Bart). His 6 Grandkids who call him Grandpa Earrings; Seth Marc, Preston James (Alex),
Little Bart, Carter Logan, Cortlyn Kate and Jack Wyatt.
In honor of our Dad, please consider donating to the Quincy Volunteer Fire Department.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Quincy at a date to be determined sometime this summer.
We love you Dad and we thank you for being OUR dad…we are 3 lucky girls.
