Constance “Connie” Faye Sawaya Kaleel passed away comfortably in her home on July 21, 2023 in Holladay, UT. When Connie passed, she was surrounded by those who loved her most. Connie shared her amazing light with us for 80 short years. Grandma is resting with her mom (Evelyn), dad (Fay), and bubba (her brother, Eddie).
Connie was born on October 9, 1942 in Salt Lake City, UT to Fay and Evelyn Sawaya. She graduated from Judge Memorial Catholic High School in 1960, and then attended Stevens-Henager college, graduating with a degree in business.
In 1966, Connie married the love of her life, Jack Kaleel. They were married for 57 vibrant and adventurous years. For those years, Connie was a devoted wife and the love she shared with Jack never ceased to fade.
Connie was a devout Catholic at Saint Jude’s Maronite Catholic Church. She was a staple of the above mentioned church and frequently contributed to its community through her presence and dedicated involvement.
Not only did she pass along her faith to those around her, but also shared with them her love for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the “occasional” opportunity to have some fun and visit Wendover.
Connie will be remembered as someone who loved hard and cared deeply. The outpouring of support and wellwishers during Connie’s passing days is a testament to that fact. She truly touched everyone who had the esteemed pleasure of knowing her.
Our mom was a true fighter. She survived breast cancer twice, lung cancer, and was faced with many health challenges throughout her life. She will be missed dearly and is the strongest woman we know, but we are comforted knowing that she is in the arms of our loving Lord and no longer has to struggle.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, four children, Kristeen (Michael), Jackie, Katherine (Kelly), Michael (Michelle), grandchildren Kylie, Rylee, Shelby, Kayla, Avery, and Austin, and great grandchildren Blakleigh, Hunter, Easten, Gracie, and Jerome whom she cherished.
A mass will be held on Sunday, August 13 at 2:00 PM at Saint Jude’s Maronite Catholic Church located at 5445 South 2700 West Taylorsville, UT 84129.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request donating to Saint Jude’s Maronite Catholic Church in her memory.
