Anne grew up with her sisters in Provo, Utah. In her early life, she would often visit her grandparents in Mount Pleasant, Utah and Montpelier, Idaho. She had life-long memories of playing with aunts, uncles and cousins and large family reunions at Bear Lake. Anne loved reading and literature. She was always a good student and graduated with honors from Provo High School in 1956.
Anne attended Utah State University (USU) from 1956-1958 where she was a popular student and crowned with several queen titles. It is at USU that she caught the eye of Blythe Ahlstrom. They were married in the Logan Temple on March 20, 1957.
While they spent most of their married lives living in Logan, Utah, they also lived in New York City, New Jersey, Washington D.C., and Chico, California.
Anne was a life-long learner. She continued to study at USU and graduated in 1987. Anne enjoyed literature, art, travel, and nature. She especially enjoyed the humanitarian service trips to Indonesia and Guatemala. She was always concerned about the environment and nature.
Anne cared deeply about individual people. She and Blythe were never “empty nesters.” There was always room in their home for a niece or nephew, a foster child, a grandchild or someone in need. Wealth and prestige did not matter to them. She befriended people of all walks of life. She gave freely of her belongings and resources to those in need. Anne was instrumental in changing lives.
The family has fond memories of attending museums, concerts, plays, travel, and musical performances together. Anne and Blythe generously donated time and money to USU, the Red Cross, community arts and libraries.
