William L. Thornton

Born on July 10, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to Edythe, nee Annis and Hubert Thornton, Bill grew up with a strong sense of family and a passion for Chicago Lions Rugby, mischief, and coaching his daughters. He married Sara Ebeling, on August 31, 1968, beginning a nearly 57 year journey.

Bill’s greatest joy came from his family. He is lovingly remembered by Sara; his daughters, Meredith (John) Posluszny and Lindsey Thornton; and his cherished grandchildren, Alec, Jack, and McKenna. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose quick wit and humor left a lasting imprint on all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Fox’s Pizza Irish Pub, located at 9655 W. 143rd Street, Orland Park, IL. A second celebration will be an open house at the Thornton home in Arlington Heights on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Services will be private.
