William “Bill” W. Kay passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his devoted family on Saturday, March 9, 2024. He joined his parents, sisters and grandson Nicholas in eternal rest. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rosann, daughter Kristine Cooper (Stephen), sons William (David Nicosia) and James (Karen) and his granddaughters who will forever miss their Poppie; Samantha, Elizabeth, Alexandra, Hannah, Isabella and Gabriela. He also leaves behind his brother, Patrick (Lori) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Bill spent a majority of his professional life managing Ventura 21, ensuring the grounds and amenities were meticulously cared for and in doing so, became a respected and well-known fixture in the community. After retirement, Bill volunteered at Brookfield Zoo serving in the Butterfly Exhibit where he was warmly referred to as ‘Butterfly Bill’.
Bill most enjoyed traveling the world with Rosann, creating some of their fondest memories, while always planning for their next incredible excursion. As a charismatic conversationalist, he could find a friend wherever he went and was the life of the party. Though he truly delighted in the simple, special moments with his grandchildren, making memories and a little mischief along the way.
Bill was an adoring husband, great dad and proud grandfather and he will forever live on in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 14th at Saint Patrick’s Church on Crane Road in St. Charles. 9:30 AM Visitation, 10:30 AM Mass.
