

William A. Baumann of Arlington Heights IL, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026 at the age of 94. He was born on January 22, 1932 in Chicago where he lived his entire life. Bill was a beloved father, husband, mentor and friend who will be greatly missed by family and friends. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War as a radio repairman, stationed in Newfoundland, Canada. He married the love of his life, Patricia Rogers, of Asheville NC, in 1955. Bill worked as an engineer for Procter & Gamble in their soap making division, retiring in 1987. Bill and Pat were happily married for 67 years. Their life together included family, friends, service, travel and devotion to faith.
Bill was involved in many activities throughout his life. He loved golfing, and was a member of the hole in one club. He also enjoyed his bowling league of 30 years. Fishing was another passion, as he cherished the family trips to northern Wisconsin and Canada. He was also a devoted lifelong Cubs fan. As a 13 year old boy, he slept in line overnight to attend the 1945 Cubs World Series game. He had to wait until 2016 to see the Cubs win a world series.
Bill was a man of faith and active member of the First United Methodist Church in Palatine, IL. He loved to sing in the choir, held multiple church offices, and was always available to help where needed.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, and brother Nelson Baumann. He is survived by his children Debbie (Ed) Meyer, Steven (Lynne) Baumann, and grandchildren, Eric (Bonnie) Meyer, Ryan (Patrick) Baumann, Matt (Sarah) Baumann, and Abby (Geoffery) Baumann. He was also blessed to have 6 great-grandchildren: Carter, Luke, Ben, Brooks, Macie and Kenzi.
Friends and family are invited to attend his military funeral service on Oct 7 at 12:45pm at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood IL.
