Thinking of you today - RIP 2yr,...beloved Aunt Sister Mentor & Joker.

Been thinking about Sharon this week. Found some picturs of our days in CA, China, Chicago and Jekle Island. She showed me so much of what's important in the world.

Dear Family and Friends of Sharon
If I could be with you on June 10th I'd. say....
Sharon married my Uncle Jack. It was becasue of Sharon I got to know what a fun loving man he was. My friendship with Sharon grew over the years after Jack died. When I visited her, she took me on great tours in Chicago, sharing stories and places from her childhood. When we went to Burlington Iowa, the Keehn family "home" ground, we revisited memory lane with the last of our clan living there. Sharon invitied me on two of her trips with her FAB gal pals. We always kept in touch by phone, sharing stories of our town and world events, updating and gossiping about our family's lives and treasures, and, our mulling over our personal and politcal hopes and dreams. Sharon was one of the most honest, rock solid, balanced and funny people in my life. I will miss the heck out of her! I will hold her in my heart as long as I live and light a candle to be with you in spirit in June. 

Sharons' Celebration of Life memorial date and place have been scheduled.
On Saturday June 10, 2023 there will be a Celebration of Life for Sharon at the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home located at 185 E Northwest Hwy, Palatine,  IL 60067 from Noon until 3 PM.

Sharon was one of my dear friends and co-workers from our time at  Holmes Junior High. 

When I first became the secretary at Holmes, I replaced a secretary everyone loved. I had big shoes to fill - and wasn't quite sure how to do that - so it took a while for people to warm up to me. 

Then, one day, Sharon posted on our whiteboard that her husband, Jack, who was very ill, needed a blood transfusion. That was back in the day when everyone was wary of a blood transfusion from an anonymous donor or blood bank. Jack needed A negative blood. I'm A negative. So, I called in to Sharon's classroom to tell her I'd be happy to donate, and she was eternally grateful. I tried to 'lighten' that situation by reminding her that after Jack received my blood that I needed to know if he woke up one day "with a burning  desire to type!" It made her laugh at a time when laughter was hard to come by. 

And, she never forgot. Years later, when my mother died - Sharon decided to 'lighten" my situation. My mother died on June 30th. Well, June 30th is also Sharon's birthday. Sharon lived miles and miles from my house - but on that day - even though it was her day, her birthday - she baked a pan of lemon bars (my favorites) - and drove that pan all the way to my house and left it on my porch, to let me know she was thinking of me. 

June 30th of each year - always carries the memory of that sad day - but it also carries a wonderful memory of a kind and considerate friend, that went out of her way - on her birthday - to make my day a tad sweeter. 

I loved you, Sharon. You will be dearly missed. 

You were taken to soon ,we were close  like we were when I was growing up .
 I so enjoyed our texts  conversations and visits when I was in town for the summer the past three years .

Sharon was my sister-in-law and my friend for 60 years.
The photo shows her visit to see us in Indianapolis. She joined us at the Sock Hop.
While I was dancing with my husband, she came on the dance floor and said move over! Then the three of us had a nice slow dance together. Her laugh was infectious!
She will be greatly missed by my family.

Sharon was a wonderful friend even though I had only known her for a short time.  Caring and kind to all neighbors in Auburn Woods.  We surely will miss you Sharon.

Sharon will be remember by so many and in a variety of ways.  The one most indelible memory that I have of Sharon is her unique and contagious laugh!  Throughout the halls of Holmes Jr. High,  you could hear Sharon making someone's day . . . either by telling a story, a joke or just making someone else's experience entertaining.  Sharon leaves behind a huge footprint and she will be missed tremendously.  My deepest sympathy for those whose hearts are broken at this difficult time.  

I had the privilege of being a former student of Mrs. Keehn at Holmes Junior High. While she worked in the library, I was selected as a student that would help other students check out books and take reading tests. I worked under her leadership and remember her as being so kind, loving, and sweet. May Mrs. Keehn rest in peace, and may her memory of touching the lives of others continue to live on.

Sharon and I started teaching together at Grove Jr. High 55 years ago and have been friends and part of each other's lives ever since. She was one of my dearest friends, and we shared many experiences and adventures together. It'll be hard to find a more generous and accepting person. She will be greatly missed by many friends and family.

I met Sharon as a fellow teacher at Grove Junior High School where I enjoyed her warmth and sense of humor. We had many great conversations as we often car pooled to and from work. Sharon and Jack were always great company and  my husband, Tony, and I enjoyed time spent with them.

I enjoyed working with Sharon at Holmes for many years.  She was a great help during 6 th gd field days and had a great sense of humor.  I’ll never forget the Christmas party she and Jack hosted at their home in Marengo and when she made the effort to come to my wife’s celebration of life after she passed.  Will be missed for sure.

Sharon was the light of our Uncle Jack's life, and in fact lit up the entire Keehn clan! A real treasure, much loved, and sorely missed.

Having worked with Sharon for many years at Holmes, I always enjoyed catching up with her at our  retirees luncheons.  As a teacher, I loved walking through her classroom to see her DOL sentences everyday because they were always hysterical.  I loved Sharon’s very dry wit!  I know our group is all going to miss her.  

Sharon always was an attendee of our events, and we loved having here there.  This is from just this past October.

We remember Sharon as a fun loving, kind and generous person.  She donated to We Are Up because she believed in making the world a better place for everyone.  We will remember Aunt Sharon for all her kindness and joy.  She showed up in the most kind ways.

So very sad to get the call today from Becky that  Sharon had left us. She was welcomed with open arms into the Keehn clan, when she married my Uncle Jack. Sharon was a sister, travel partner, teacher and friend. I always appreciated her midwest humor, balanced outlook and open mind. My heart goes out to her many dear gal friends and family. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Sharon. I was her personal trainer and massage therapist for almost 14 years. She was such a light in my life and I will miss our weekly sessions terribly. Sending prayers and love to her family and friends.
