She was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of countless individuals in Palatine, Illinois and beyond.
Born in Oak Park, Illinois on June 30, 1946, Sharon grew up in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago. She pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University, followed by a Master of Arts degree from Roosevelt University in 1981.
Sharon dedicated her life to education, teaching as a Junior High School teacher at various schools for the Illinois District 59 School District until her retirement. She had a true passion for teaching and was known for making a major impact on all of her students.
Outside of the classroom, Sharon was an avid reader and active member of her homeowner’s association book club. She also enjoyed organizing events for her friends, neighbors, and the students she taught.
Her kindness, generosity, and selflessness will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Haden (Jack) Keehn, as well as her father, Robert Allan Edgecombe, her mother, Marion Loraine Edgecombe, and her brother, Bruce Edgecombe. She is survived by her brothers, James (Kathleen) Edgecombe and David Edgecombe; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Keehn Doran and Rebecca Anne Baugher; nephews, Scott (Jill) Edgecombe, Darrin (Tammi) Edgecombe, Ryan Edgecombe, and Matthew Edgecombe; nieces, Mandy Edgecombe and Alison Marcanti. She was an exceptional and generous aunt, sister and step-grandmother.
Sharon had a love for travel and enjoyed going out for meals with friends and relatives. She made a positive impact on the lives of all those around her, especially her close friends Joann Powell, Sheilah Sokeland, Milli Cady and Rosemary Hany and her absence will be felt deeply by her loved ones.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held in the near future, with details to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sharon's honor to a local food pantry or the Salvation Army. Sharon's legacy of kindness and generosity will live on through these charitable contributions.
Sharon will be remembered as a devoted teacher, a loving wife, and a cherished friend. She will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
