

Michael W. Gill, of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on June 17, 2024 from complications of pneumonia. Mike was born and raised in Chicago on April 29, 1944. He was a star athlete at Lakeview High School. He joined the Chicago Police Department as a patrolman and later a detective for a career span of 31 years. Mike was service oriented. He was passionate about protecting the very young and the very old. Mike and his bride of 46 years, Evelyn, relocated to Arlington Heights after Mike retired from the force. He was a member of St. Edna's Catholic church. He loved his religion.
Mike loved when we traveled to see family and friends out of town. He loved playing cards, watching movies, eating ice cream and listening to the BeeGees. Mike was a quiet man with a heart of gold. He will be missed by his dear friends and relatives. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Wanda and Patrick Gill. He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn, sister-in-law Rachel Hanna, Chicago, nieces Ann Marie (Jim) and Alicia Walters, Atlanta, Nephews A. J. McGunigal and Kyle Walters, Atlanta, brother-in-law Harry McGunigal, Atlanta, and his best friend and caregiver, Ian Lapidus-Saltz, who was at his side with love and devotion. Funeral services will be private.
