Marv was one of the first people I met when I became involved in wheelchair basketball.  He always took the time to talk to me and educate me about the sport.  My condolences to his family.

My heart goes out to you, Phyllis, and all of your family during this very difficult time. I had the honor and pleasure of serving alongside Marv as part of the NWBA Executive Committee across  18 years. Marv always brought his sense of humor and was quick to share a joke - often when we needed it most. He also brought his larger than life personality and unwavering optimism to all that he did. The NWBA much benefited from his work and was so lucky to have him, as was I.   I will never forget all of the NWBTs and Gold Cups and the wonderful time we spent in Illinois on his family farm. He was so kind to our energetic children - complete with a fireworks display to end the night. I will dearly miss you, Marv. You were such an inspiration to me.

Marvin was the best President in my eyes and was so relaxed and nice to everyone.......He's up there now.......saying good things to all are departed friends....He was a nice Smart ...... caring Gentleman...and was such a handsome man!

I always looked forward to his company and great wit and happiness........

Take Care, hope your seeing my son David Radbel that passed away from cancer on May 29, 2023......I miss him sooooo much.  I'm still lost and memory isn't so good.  He suffered at Northwestern Chicago hospital 72 days.......he did get to be in his home on 
Wabash avenue for his last days a live.......My therapist told me I was running out of time......I need to ask him(David)

"IF, he had a good Life.....With tears in my eyes his response was because of you MOM I had a "GOODLIFE"  Wishing that Marvin and David are shooting hoops with other wheelchair basketball players.....as a matter of fact I"M CONFIDENT THAT THERE'S A FEW BOUNCING BASKETBALLS SHOOTING HOOPS TOGETHER  Their our Angels......

Sending my condolences to Marv's wife Philis and the Lapicola family. So many great memories of Marv. Working with him on the NWBA Hall of Fame Committee and all the USA basketball tournaments. He has done so much for the NWBA and wheelchair basketball. Rest in Peace my friend.

Phyillis, Debbie, Michael, and Sandy, know how I feel about one of the great people you could ever know.  Marv and I had the best conversation on Super Bowl Sunday, talking old times at the Lapicola Super Bowl parties (second to none) and many other great memories together.  
My days as a kid, he'd take Mike and I to his basketball practices at York HS - watching the future Hall of Famer and the other wheelchair athletes was so inspirational for me, someone who loved sports and competition at a very young age.  Marvin inspired me every day, athletically, and in my personal and professional life to be my very best.  He showed us all that there was nothing you could not achieve if you worked hard enough for it, and that life's challenges should never hold you back.  That you can overcome if you choose, just as he did with polio early in his life.   He was a mentor to me for many years, and I'm forever indebted to Marvin for it.  
There was nothing Marv wouldn't do for you, and he shared his many blessings with you.   Taking me to Cubs play-off games in '84, when nobody could get a ticket, multiple Bears banquets he brought me to during the '85/'86 SB season, and anything else he had access too - you would be a part of it.  and to be included w/ the "Monday Night Football group" was so fun!  
His HOF basketball career as player and achievements as President of the NWBA was remarkable, and in his very successful career as a D54 Administrator, so impactful for many.   
Above all else, I'll remember you as a HOF person, Marvin.   God bless ...  :)

As I told you Sandy and Debbie on the phone last week, I'm blessed to have known your father more than you know.   We'll miss him, his great sense of humor, and all the things that made him so special.  I can only smile when thinking about Marvin.  What a lasting impression and positive influence he's left on us!

Marvelous Marvin's contributions to the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA), both on and off the court, are innumerable and historic, spanning  more than 6 decades. Marv was a fierce competitor, a national champion, a savvy administrator, a fan, and an always approachable, genuinely nice guy.

My Heartfelt Condolences to Phyllis & Family. Such fond memories of working & visiting/socializing with Marvin. Always a good joke or humorous story, Marv often was the life of the party but he could be serious when he needed to be. The foundations we laid back in the 1980's & 90's ( namely, the expansion of the Intercollegiate Division, Inclusion of Women into the sport & development of the youth programs) are paying huge dividends to the Sport of Wheelchair Basketball today. Thanks for a Job Well Done Marvin.  You will Always be "My President".
