He was a Chicagoan in the truest sense. Born and raised on Chicago's North Side, the youngest of six brothers, he spent his youth running through neighborhood alleys and playing sports in schoolyards. Thought of by many as a "golden boy," he went on to excel in academics and sports at Lane Tech.
He later built a successful career in pharmaceutical sales, earning numerous company honors and professional accolades. An avid golfer and a man of wide-ranging talents, those who knew him best knew he was truly a Renaissance man.
He leaves behind cherished friends, nieces and nephews, and his brother, Daniel Villareal. Above all, he leaves behind a family who adored him. He is survived by his three beloved sons, Martin Simonsen Jr., Eric Simonsen, and Marc Siegler, and Lynn Siegler, his former wife and friend of more than three decades.
He was predeceased by his parents, Christine and Sigurd Simonsen, and his brothers Ruben Villareal, Raymond Villareal, David Villareal, and Gerald Simonsen.
