Lawrence Wayne Knight

Larry was born on January 23, 1942 and grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana with his sister Nancy and brother Dick, where he enjoyed collecting random animals as pets (to the dismay of his mother) and listening to rock and roll music on the radio.

Larry graduated from Purdue University before earning a Master's from Southern Illinois University, where he met his future wife Betsy. He worked as a professor of geology and physical science at Harper College for over three decades.

Larry enjoyed collecting rocks, walking outdoors, camping with his family and fishing with friends. He was an Elder and dedicated member of the Christian Church of Arlington Heights and supported many scientific groups, like Science Olympiad and Planetary Studies Foundation.

Larry is survived by his children Jessica (Kevin) Ford, Meredith Knight and Gavin Knight, and his grandchildren Emerson and Kai Ford. Larry is predeceased by his wife Betsy (née Glathart) and his parents Donald and Caroline Knight.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Christian Church of Arlington Heights (Disciples of Christ), 333 W Thomas St, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
