Judith Ann Henrich, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in Lindenhurst, Illinois, after a courageous battle with leukemia and other illnesses. Born on January 5, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Judy grew up in Elk River and later Benson, Minnesota, where she cherished her upbringing alongside her four siblings. Her journey led her to the Twin Cities, where she met her husband.
In 1987, Judy and her family embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Illinois, where she became a cherished member of the communities of Green Oaks and Libertyville for many years. Throughout her rich and fulfilling life, Judy faced every challenge with unwavering determination, leaving an indelible mark on those around her.
A devoted mother and accomplished entrepreneur, Judy co-ran Unique Indoor Comfort in Libertyville alongside her children, leaving a lasting legacy until her retirement in 2022. Her passions extended beyond the business; she found true joy in traveling, especially to Cape San Blas, Florida, and treasured moments spent with her family and grandchildren. Judy's compassion also extended to her furry companions, as her love for cats and dogs enriched her life.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Todd) Covert, sons Adam Henrich (Lisa Smith) and Josh (Alison) Henrich, along with her cherished grandchildren Isabelle, Grace, Cole, Lily, Oskar, Wyatt, Elowynn, and step-grandchildren Olivia, Isabella, Presley, and Reagan. She leaves behind her sisters Kay Kessel and Joan Dale, brother Bill (Patricia) Hetrick, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Harriette Hetrick and her brother Chuck.
A private memorial service honoring Judy's life will be held on Saturday, February 24th.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy's memory can be made to support cancer research through her son Adam Henrich's participation in the Pan Mass Challenge. This annual 210-mile bicycle ride raises funds for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, with 100% of rider-raised dollars directly benefiting the cause. Adam dedicates his ride this year to his beloved mother.
