One of 13 children born into the Urbaszewski family, Jean often referred to herself as "third from the baby."
Her parents, Peter and Mary Urbaszewski, emigrated from Poland, lived in Chicago and raised 13 children there. Jean was the last of the children born to them, living until almost 95 years old.
Jean exhibited beauty and grace in all she did, which led to runway modeling back in the late 1940's. Horseback riding, playing jazz piano, and dancing were her favorite hobbies, too, but traveling was her passion. As a young woman, she traveled to 13 countries. Jean was employed as a switchboard telephone operator when she met the love of her life, Stanley. They married on August 12, 1951 in Chicago. After the birth of her daughter, Judi in October of 1954, she was a stay-at-home mom until she went back to work at Motorola on an assembly line for police radios, pagers, and other electronic devices.
They traveled together, mostly planned excursions, but sometimes Stanley surprised her with an occasional impromptu trip. After his death in 1984, she continued to see the world with her sister Florence, but also on her own with tour groups.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Judith Diane, her grandchildren Jamie Elizabeth, and Christopher Michael and 3 great grandchildren, Arianna, 8, twins Landon and Tyler, 5.
Internment will be at St. Adelbert's Cemetary in Niles. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date to be announced.
