Iona Mae “Sandy” “Rosie” Alexander, 92, of Lake Villa and Sun City, AZ died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 after succumbing to Alzheimer’s. She was born August 28, 1924 in Joice, Iowa to Ole and Annie Tweed. She married Clarence Alexander on April 13, 1946 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, IA.
She was a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. In her younger years, she was active at the Central Christian Church in Waukegan. She enjoyed playing golf and watching the Chicago Cubs. She traveled extensively with her family going on numerous cruises and trips around the world.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Clarence “Clare” Alexander; children: Douglas (Carol) Alexander, Donald (Pamela) Alexander, Jill (David) Dunn; grandchildren: Kim Alexander, Chris (Kelli) Alexander, Brandilee McGregor, Kellan Alexander, Alexander (Lauren) Dunn, Kelsey Dunn; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law June Tweed and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
A celebration of life memorial was held July 8 at her home overlooking Fox Lake with attendees from fourteen states.
